Lesson Objective

This lesson involves students (in groups) creating a simple website about the formation of volcanos and volcanic eruptions. By building a website, I am developing students' ability to produce multimedia content related to their learning and developing their technical skills

Lesson Overview/Structure

Students have already covered this topic and have a good understanding of the process.
Students are divided into groups of 4. Students are then asked to ‘storyboard’ their website i.e. map
out what pages will be included and what content (text, images, video etc) will go on teach page.
Once storyboards are complete, students are introduced to Google Sites and show how to create and
account and add content.
Students then share their website with other groups in the class.

Lesson Review

I was pleasantly surprised with how the students completed this task. They found excellent images
and videos online and used Google Sites very well to represent the information they had found.
Some students found Google Sites very challenging. In future years, I might provide some page
templates for them to use
